FIH Umpiring Committee Chair Ermano Silvano ran an umpires’ course in Chandigarh last month for attendees from India, Sri Lanka and Dubai (UAE). Of the more than 30 participants, 6 were women. A good start, but we need to continue to encourage women from these socio-political regions to get involved in officiating!

“I’m delighted to see the strong commitment of these young and promising Umpires; some of whom travelled by train for more than 30 hours just to be here. They are very keen to learn and improve. I really see potential in some of them to become the next top Indian International Umpires!”
